RETHINK….

Posted in Weekly thought tagged , , , , at 6:55 pm by Jeremy Blount

As I will often mention I love seeing what God is doing in and through other Youth Pastors around the world.  I love how when we get together we can share thoughts that challenge us in our walk with God.

One of the most amazing things about God is how He might be challenging me in an area and at the same time challenging people with the same thought throughout the globe.

God is challenging me to GIVE HIM everything.   See here.    He is also challenging Brian from RETHINKYOUTHMINISTRY.blogspot.com   with the same thought.

Though we do not face the sort of death for our faith that folks did in Mark’s day, we are called to other kinds of death: death to our own sense of self-sufficiency, death to self-centeredness, leading to the realization that we do need something beyond ourselves. When I find myself embracing this notion, the truth always washes over me that surrender doesn’t bring confinement but freedom.

I dont like mistakes

Posted in Weekly thought tagged , , , , , , at 1:50 pm by Jeremy Blount

I’m the kind of guy that hates mistakes.  I want everything that I work hard on to go well.  I would say that I often can get stuck in a “Performance Trap” mentality.

I hate failure and because of this I often dont take risks.  I also think that at times this can stop me from allowing God to work through me to accomplish God sized tasks.  Steven Furtick says:

I don’t mind those I lead making mistakes.  In fact, I prefer it.  If they’re not making mistakes, they’re probably not playing to win.  Read more here.

Let me ask you.  As a leader are you playing to win?  Are you taking chances or risks as you play to win or are you being safe?  Are you more worried about what others think of your success or failure then you are pleasing your Boss?

The disciples of Jesus made plenty of mistakes.  All through out the Bible we read about men & women who God used even with their mistakes.  Maybe its time to be willing to make a couple of mistakes and allow God to the the unthinkable.

So how do we make this a reality

Posted in General Thoughts tagged , , , at 3:10 pm by Jeremy Blount

Once a week I try to encourage you with some kind of thought.  This one however has me stumped.  The article that you are about to read is about getting parents involved in teaching kids about the Bible.    To be honest besides my parents that are youth workers, the rest of the parents are not involved.  Read the article here.  And then leave your feedback below where it says comments.

So what are your thoughts for getting parents involved in their kids spiritual lives?  I think this ties in with the whole Dr. Paddasik Conversation.
